Read your Bible!

I am thankful for the platform social media gives us to share the hope of God, words of encouragement, and our favorite Bible verses.

But you must understand God can not be described in a 180 character tweet, God is bigger than a facebook post, He is even greater than your favorite preacher says He is in the three minute video you liked and shared.

My concern today is many Christians haven’t read their Bibles in a while because they have read a couple Bible verses someone shared, and read the first paragraph of Sister so and so’s devotional she shared, and watched a couple video clips of a sermon. Beloved these things are good and I do them on a daily basis. But they are not a substitute for daily reading your Bible.

I want to say this loud and clear for the people on the back row. “Take a break from facebook and break open the Bread of Life, the Word of God, the Bible.”

The Word of God is…..

The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair. They are more desirable than gold, even the finest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the comb. They are a warning to your servant, a great reward for those who obey them.
Psalms 19:7‭-‬11 NLT

It is truly important that we spend time in the word. You are so right many people seems to only focus on the posts on Facebook or other social media. Thanks for this reminder.
