Don’t let satan steal your identity in Christ

We all know about identity theft, chances are you know someone who has had there identity stolen. Identity theft can be a tragic event for someone. We take every precautionary action possible in order to protect our names, social security number, drivers license, credit card numbers etc. We will review our credit history, take our names off of mailing lists, shred our personal documents, keep our personal info (SS cards, birth certificate) at home in a safe place, use strong passwords, and take our bills to the post office rather than send them from your mailbox. Identity theft is a verry real thing that has the potential to destroy your life.

Micah 4:5

5 For all people walk each in the name (identity) of his god, But we will walk in the name of the LORD our God (true identity) Forever and ever.

I’m writing this post today to warn you of Satan’s attempt to steal your identity as a Christian just as real but even more important than your personal identity. Satan is come to steal, kill and even destroy or identity as a Christian. It’s sad to say but he has done just that in many individuals, families, and even churches today.

The Church should be salt and light thats part of there true identity. When we are following after the name of the Lord our God we will be salt and light.

Matthew 5:13-16

13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light (true identity) so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

We must wake up to the fact that Satan is trying to steal our identity as salt and light. If we lose our identity as salt and light verse 13 says we are good for nothing. Wake up Church lets protect our true identity and be salt and light to this lost and dying world.

The church needs to wake up to the crisis of Identity Theft in the church. Did you catch what happens to the salt that has lost it flavor if not read verse 13 one more time. We identify ourselves through the gods we follow after, as we read in Micah 4:5. Everyone is following or walking after a name of some god. The church shouldn’t have as many divorces and scandals, and things of this nature as the world that isn’t following after the name of the Lord our God (true identity). So many look to the culture for their identity, their job or career, their bank accounts. Many of our youth get their identities from the music they listen to, the brand name clothes they wear, their girlfriends or boyfriends, or the people they hang out with. A side note to all parents They need to see you walking in your true identity as a Christian.

We must begin identifying ourselves through the name of the Lord our God. All of these other identities whether it be your job, career, bank account, ministry, brand name clothes, music, or the people you hang out with, they are temporal and will all be gone one day. Amen.

When people see you they should see Jesus Christ. We should be walking in the name of Jesus and proclaiming and His glory everywhere we go. That is the only identity they will last forever. You might be asking how do we walk in the name of Jesus. You should turn from all those false gods (identities) and turn to God. We should walk as Jesus walked in humility, love, gentleness, forgiveness, holiness, and in the power of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 13:11-14

11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly (in the name of our Lord Jesus our true identity), as in the day, not in wild parties and drunkenness, or sexual promiscuity and immoral living, or in quarreling and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

We must put on the name of the Lord Jesus through baptism,

Galatians 3:27

For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

This means, being baptised into Jesus Christ, but oh so much more. We need to be baptized or immersed in the things of God, prayer, fasting, worship, intercession, and the Word of God. When we identity ourselves with these things all those false identities that Satan’s wants us to have begin to fade away. Church lets begin to walk after the name of the Lord our God and begin being the Light and Salt to this lost and dying world. We must recognize who God is and who we are in Christ Jesus! Let’s protect our true identity as Christians. Just in case you think you can’t walk in your true identity I’ll leave you with this last scripture.

Zechariah 10:12

12 “ So I will strengthen them in the LORD, And they shall walk up and down in His name (true identity) ,” Says the LORD.

Lord God, I pray you will give us all the strength, power, and all the grace we need to protect our identity as Christians and declare your name throughout the earth. Lord fill our minds and hearts with the truth of who You are and who we are in You, in Jesus name AMEN!
